Executive Director Dayal Nandwani and U.S. Peace Corps Response Volunteer Ms. Colleen Richards, visited the University of Santo Tomas (UST) last Tuesday, February 10, 2015.
The visit was to meet up with Ms. Georgina “Gigi Mojica and Ms. Joyce of the College of Rehabilitation Science to firm up a renewal of partnership for the school year 2015-2016. The UST HAS BEEN PROVIDING A Stepping Stone with fifth (5th) year Speech and language Patholy interns for two years now.
Both Ms. Gigi and Ms. Joyce welcomed their guest and got straight into the articles of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to be finalized for the incoming school year.
On the part of Stepping Stone, it was requested that new Speech and Language Pathology interns be rotated every two (2) months instead of the current one (1) month practice in the past. This will help the students and out-patients to feel more at ease when they attend therapy classes.
The new MOU will be effective on June 1, 2015 throughout April 30,2016 as the new school calendar of the UST Kicks in this year. This is very welcome news for Stepping Stone as only one month, the month of May will see the school without any SLP interns.
Stepping Stone also requested the UST to post a job placement notice on their website for a full time or part time SLP Supervisor who would manage the incoming SLP interns.
It has been a very fruitful partnership with the UST and we look forward to better relations in the future.
